King of Heaven and Earth
Despite the glitzy veneer of the Christmas season, it’s not hard to remember the world we live in doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to. Every day we read news about warring nations and conflicting kingdoms. We look around and see unrighteousness rewarded and injustice unpunished. The truth is, we live in a world of rebellion—not merely on earth but against heaven. A world that has thrown off God’s rule and sought to replace it with our own.
Yet for all our passion, innovation, and progress, the fractures of our fallen world grow deeper every day. Though we hate to admit it, we are powerless to do anything to stop it. What we truly need is a Savior and King.
This is precisely how the Gospel of Matthew introduces Jesus to us. He is the King we have all been waiting for, our long promised Savior. The King who is both God and man, uniquely able to establish God’s kingdom. He is the King who deserves the world’s worship, and thus the King who dethrones all other kings. Jesus is the King we desperately need—the true King of heaven and earth.
Join us for Advent this season as we reflect on Matthew’s Gospel and celebrate Jesus, the King of heaven and earth.
