A Shared Journey Through Scripture

Published January 22, 2026

What would happen if men and women committed to reading through the Bible in a year, together? If we journeyed through Scripture side by side with the simple purpose of learning more about God: who He is, how He reveals Himself, and what that means for our lives. Not chasing a specific topic or outcome, but allowing the whole story of Scripture to shape us.

At the end of 2025, our Men’s and Women’s Ministry teams extended an invitation to our church family. An invitation to commit to reading through the Bible in a year, together, in community. One group for men, one for women. And you really showed up. About 100 men and women (that we know of!) said yes.

Each person choosing how they want to engage: some reading through the Bible App in shared groups, others using a hard copy of the reading guide. Different methods, same pace, same journey. And let’s be honest, reading through Genesis and Job in the cold, dark days of January is no small feat. Oof.

But here’s the beautiful part: the year is still very young, and God is already at work. Through daily reading, He is revealing Himself in new ways. And through shared commitment, He is shaping hearts with grace and perseverance, especially on the days when someone misses a reading or two and reaches out, only to be met with encouragement instead of shame.

Because this isn’t a task to complete or a pass/fail challenge. It’s a practice. A way to grow in faithfulness. A daily rhythm of opening God’s Word to know Him more deeply and walk with Him more closely.

And, with that in mind, it’s not too late to join the Men’s Group or Women’s Group!

Here are a few reflections from some of our Bible-in-a-Year readers as they share about their journey so far:

"God has used daily Bible reading plans in my life to keep me in the Word and establish consistency in devotions. I am really enjoying the chronological plan the Men are doing! The descriptions of how the story of God is progressing and the application questions keep me engaged. I am praying God will use this in my life to speak to me and keep my relationship with him strong. I also draw strength from the other men who are doing this with me!"

“I am so lazy about spending regular time with the Lord, this gives me a connection with another lady, it helps me stay on track! I praise God for this group!”

"This is my second time reading through the entire Bible, but my first time doing it chronologically and also my first time with a group. I’m finding that I have a better awareness this time and seeing other perspectives has only increased my understanding. I look forward to reading, every morning when I get up!"

“I’m really enjoying the process 😀. I like that the readings for the day are fairly short and I appreciate the recap. The recap really helps me process and understand what I just read.”

“I have definitely felt more calm and in a better mood overall throughout the day while doing this. I did this to give myself a challenge and I liked that it wasn’t just the Bible in a year from Genesis-Revelation. I always get too overwhelmed when I set out to read the Bible in a year. I love being able to share with my reading partner about what I’m reading and hear what she is learning! I also love hearing what others think about the passages.”

“I didn't really want to commit to this, but I did it anyway. I am a rule follower and a task doer...meaning, if I don't think I can complete something, I don't want to commit. I decided to jump in, and I am glad I did! I have learned a lot already about God and his word, but I have also learned a lot about doing something even when it's hard and maybe not as "clean" and organized as I want it to be. It also helps me to know others are in it with me and that we aren't striving for perfection, but rather faithfulness!”

“I decided to 'try’ it, and I’m glad I did. I’m loving it. I really like the recap at the end of the chapters we’ve covered.”
